This page is an information portal for the computer game Oolite, a space trading and combat game inspired by the classic 1980's computer game 'Elite'.
Oolite is a free, cross-platform, open-source project. It is available for Linux, Mac and Windows operating systems.
Oolite captures the magic of Elite, but makes the most of today's computers to bring the game right up to date.
It is backed by a lively community and is easy for users to modify using simple text and graphics editors. There are literally hundreds of OXPs (Oolite eXpansion Packs) available. These have all been produced by members of the community to improve the look of the game, add new missions and to offer a wide range of extra ships and equipment.
